Discover Neighbours in Zemgale!

2026-04-01

For the tenth year in a row, the cross-border tourism campaign “Discover Neighbours in Zemgale!” will take place in the Latvia–Lithuania border region. To mark the tenth anniversary of the campaign, its territory in Latvia has been expanded by including the municipalities of Aizkraukle, Jelgava and Dobele. Following this expansion, a new logo has also been created for the campaign.

As usual, residents of Latvia and Lithuania are invited to discover new places and attractions in the municipalities of Aizkraukle, Bauska, Jelgava and Dobele in Latvia, as well as in the districts of Joniškis, Biržai, Pakruojis and Pasvalys in Lithuania.

The aim of the project is to promote tourism development in the Latvia–Lithuania border region by creating a joint tourism route and promoting local tourist attractions and businesses.

From 1 April to 15 September 2026, everyone is invited to take part in the campaign and explore the region by visiting campaign objects and collecting stamps in the campaign brochure. To participate in the prize draw, participants must visit all 24 sites located in the eight municipalities and take a selfie at each object.

Residents of Latvia and Lithuania are welcome to participate in the tourism campaign – with their families, friends or individually. Campaign brochures will be available at the tourism information centres of the participating municipalities. Completed campaign cards must be submitted to one of the tourism information centres by 15 September.

By submitting the completed campaign brochure, participants will have the opportunity to enter the prize draw and win one of the following prizes:

  • 8 bicycles
  • 8 travel bags
  • 8 camping tents
  • 8 sets of Nordic walking poles

The prize winners will be announced on 21 September 2026. The closing event of the tourism campaign and the prize giving ceremony will take place on 3 October 2026 during the Dobele Apple Festival.

More information about the campaign sites, rules and tourism opportunities in the border region will be available from April on the Facebook page @kaiminizemgale and online:
