Jewellery Workshop Craftsmen on the road in Žagarė

In Žagarė, in the house where the poet Juozas Žlabis-Žengė lived, is a Venetian glass jewellery workshop, which was founded a few years ago by Jurgita Alminaitė, who learnt the craft in Venice, and the Italian-Argentinean Sebastian Ariel Liotta. The young family don’t just sell jewellery, but also run jewellery educational activities and courses in their workshop named Craftsmen on the Road, where they offer an introduction to Venetian glass and an opportunity to learn how to make your own jewellery.
Work with Venetian glass is interesting and requires diligence. First, the pencil-shaped sticks of coloured glass are melted in a flame at 800 degrees Celsius, and then a glass bead is formed. Each piece is uniquely decorated with pebbles, seeds, nuts, pieces of wood from all over the world, and the texture of the glass beads varies too.
The Jewellery Workshop Craftsmen on the road in Žagarė invite those seeking creative adventures to individual jewellery making courses, where they can learn about the jeweller’s work process and make their own jewellery from brass wire, natural rocks and hand-made glass. Educational activities are 2 hours long.
